Wellness Councils
of America to Hold National Forum on Obesity
Omaha (NE) The Wellness Councils of America (WELCOA) will hold
a national forum addressing the issue overweight and obesity on
April 17th and 18th at Central States Indemnity in Omaha, NE.
The forum is by invitation only and is designed to train wellness
practitioners nationwide on how to reduce obesity related medical
claims, increase worksite productivity, and improve quality of life.
The forum is the first of four scheduled throughout the year. WELCOA
will also hold forums in New York, NY; Chicago, IL; and Washington
D.C. as part of a comprehensive initiative to address an issue that
costs the American workforce over $100 billion annually according
to the Department of Health and Human Services.
The forums will include teaching sessions by Dr. David Hunnicutt,
President of the Wellness Councils of America, Mr. Michael Samuelson,
Chairman of the National Center for Health Promotion and Dr. Mehmood
Kahn, Consultant Physician for the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN.
The training sessions will cover a wide variety of topics ranging
from an explanation of the clinical factors involved in obesity,
to effective strategies for addressing it at the worksite. A complete
curriculum to combat the debilitating effects of obesity at the
worksite will be unveiled.
Says Dr. Hunnicutt, "Obesity, and its effect on American workforce
is an issue of significant concern. It's important that every worksite,
large or small, have a plan in place to address this pressing issue."
The forum is by invitation only and is offered at no cost to select
wellness practitioners across the nation. For more information about
