Assistant Director, Employee Wellness

The Department of Wellness is now seeking an experienced professional to lead its Employee Wellness Program in the position of Assistant Director of Employee Wellness at Oklahoma State University. The Employee Wellness Program Assistant Director develops and implements programs and services for OSU Faculty and Staff in line with the designation of America’s Healthiest Campus. This includes working closely with staff to develop, schedule, market and assess programs and services.

Our ideal candidate has a passion for providing exceptional programs and services, and leading a team who is dedicated to the goals, mission and growth of the program. Applicants should have a minimum of 2 years related experience and previous experience in managing full-time staff. The Assistant Director is responsible for developing and monitoring the program budget.

Work schedule is generally M-F, 8-5 with some nights and weekends as needed.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate Employee Wellness Program
  • Work with professional staff to develop, promote, implement, and assess programs for OSU-Stillwater Faculty and Staff
  • Monitor program budgets
  • Act as Department of Wellness liaison for Faculty Council, Staff Advisory Council, branch and A&M campuses and County Extension Offices, BlueCross BlueShield, and Human Resources
  • Develop funding requests o Cultivate collaborative efforts with other campus department
  • Assist other staff members as needed on intervention programs and special events
  • Make departmental presentations on request
  • Supervise Employee Wellness Program personnel
  • Supervise professional staff members: Nutrition Coordinator, Health Educator, Fitness Specialist, and Sr. Administrative Support Specialist; and Health
  • Education and Nutrition graduate assistants, one or more student interns, and student employees
  • Oversee Massage Therapy program
  • Develop and adhere to annual budget
  • Approve time; monitor employees under FLSA to minimize overtime
  • Approve purchase card purchases
  • Manage Certified Healthy Department program
  • Work with Communications Specialist to develop marketing materials and oversee promotion of the program
  • Develop annual application and oversee application process
  • Work with Human Resources to determine certification criteria
  • Notify departments of certification
  • Coordinate development and delivery of certificates
  • Provide monthly updates of current Department of Wellness programs/services
  • Manage Innovator program
  • Work with Communications Specialist to develop marketing materials and oversee promotion of the program.
  • Develop yearly application and oversee application process.
  • Work with Human Resources and Chief Wellness Officer to schedule and provide bi-annual training session
  • Work with Human Resources to schedule quarterly informational meetings
  • Provide monthly updates of current Department of Wellness programs/services

Required Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, Health Education or related field.
  • Two years of full-time work experience coordinating wellness programs; and Experience in developing, teaching and presenting wellness-related classes and workshops.
  • CHES or Nationally recognized Worksite Wellness Certification (within one year of hire).

Preferred Job Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Health Promotion, Health Education or related field.
  • Three to five years full-time work experience in coordinating wellness programs; and experience in developing, teaching and presenting wellness related classes and workshops.
  • Skilled in assessment and the development of data-driven programming.
  • Direct personnel management experience of full-time/career staff: hiring, training, and evaluating
  • Budget development experience
  • CHES Certification
