Assistant Director of Wellness
This position will assist the Director of Counseling and Wellness with the development, implementation and evaluation of wellness and health promotion initiatives that enhance the student experience and increase student success while supporting the mission of the College.
Develop and assist with the implementation of programs and activities that facilitates a holistic health and wellness approach to students’ well-being, with emphasis on engaging students, increasing student participation, and assisting students to develop healthy lifestyles.
Collaborate with faculty, staff and students to plan, organize, and promote initiatives that support the campus-wide agenda to advance the health and wellness of students and promote student success.
Promote health and wellness community experiences for students, faculty and staff; provide educational resources and expertise to the campus community; develop initiatives which include but not limited to the following: conducting trainings, workshops and classroom visits; and assisting with any departmental assessments of campus and community needs and assets.
Organize the outreach, peer initiatives, activities, education and prevention programs provided within the Wellness Center.
Provide support and coordination to the Peer Health Education Work Study Program in collaboration with the College Nurse; Assist with selection, training and administrative responsibilities.
Manage and coordinate the College Medical Leave of absence process to include meeting with students and or parents and processing all necessary paperwork.
Serves as a student advocate, providing confidential, neutral, and an independent resource for student concerns and issues; Provide possible resolutions; Foster self advocacy in students to manage their overall well-being.
Provide oversight and assistance to immunization record collection process.
Provide direct services and programming aimed to increase retention, completion, satisfaction and overall well-being.
Serve as a vital team member of the Counseling and Wellness Center; assist and support the Center’s programs and initiatives, including representing the Center at campus events and outreach efforts.
Serve as a designated “Confidential Reporting Resource” under Title IX guidelines
Assist with ensuring proper use/cleanliness of the Counseling and Wellness Center.
Serves as a referral resource for faculty, staff, students, and parents.
Maintain consistent and reliable attendance.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Counseling and Wellness.
Participate in campus/department/committee meetings as required.
Collaborate with Brooklyn campus to provide coordinated services to students.
Minimum requirements: Education Required: Bachelor’s Degree; public health, health promotion, health education, or other related discipline preferred.
Experience Required: Minimum of 3-5 years experience working within a diverse College setting in the Health, Wellness or Counseling area.
