OEA Choice Benefit Trust is a 501c9 organization dedicated to promoting the total well-being of Oregon public school employees. OEA Choice Trust’s mission is to provide expertise and resources to help Oregon public school employees create comprehensive and flexible well-being programs to build a culture of wellness that becomes the norm. OEA Choice Trust prioritizes quality service and partnerships that support a journey to wellness.
OEA Choice Trust has a vision of All Oregon public school employees being healthy, resilient and engaged as champions for healthy school environments and vital communities. As a result, they are fulfilled in their work, model well-being for students and are better equipped to foster student success.
OEA Choice Trust believes that all school employees, no matter their role, should have effective well– being programs that can help employees take better care of themselves and foster resilience. Healthy and resilient worksites reduce employees’ stress, boost energy and morale and promote better balance in life – a win for all staff and students.
We Accomplish Our Mission By:
- Grants, scholarships, and professional development for customized employee well
–being programs for Oregon public K-12 districts, education service districts and community colleges. - Resources that include technical assistance, trainings, professional development and coaching that are based on healthy worksite wellness practices.
- Statewide conferences and other gatherings that bring together school employees, health advocates and educators to create healthy and resilient workplaces; network with each other; and learn how to connect their colleagues and communities to the benefits of school employee wellness programs.

Our Ideal Candidate:
OEA Choice Trust is looking for an innovative leader that can move the Trust forward in meeting its goals. A relationship builder that makes connections in-person as well as via technology; an individual that understands process improvement, education systems, community health and workplace health. Someone excited about evidence-informed grantee practices and being nimble in supporting school staff throughout Oregon.
With a small staff, OEA Choice Trust works hard every day to meet the health and well-being needs of school districts, education service districts (ESDs) and community colleges across the state of Oregon. The next Executive Director will have a strong fiduciary understanding and will be able to support and grow our staff while respecting the Trust’s role in providing grants, resources, gatherings, an annual state-wide school employee wellness conference (with no registration fee), technical assistance and coaching to districts, ESD’s and community colleges.
A strong connection with diversity, equity and inclusion and the lived experience across various communities which will assist our Executive Director in meeting the needs of our constituents and staff.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Lived and managerial experience or equivalent college degree.
- 7+ years’ experience managing staff, budgets, and operations.
- 3+ years’ experience in grant-making.
- Demonstrated experience in education, employee health and workplace wellness, public health or related business area.
- Demonstrated experience with strategic planning, goal setting, board engagement and staff development.
Attributes of Success:
- Understanding, connection and belief in education, workplace health and an inclusive community of educators and staff.
- Experience with communities across Oregon and outside of the I-5 corridor.
- Leadership experience working with staff, board and partners.
- Understanding of 501c9 organizations.
