Fitness Program Manager
The Fitness Program Manager is responsible for managing the strategic development and delivery of specific Cooper fitness program offerings according to Cooper’s vision, values and strategic objectives at the Downtown Athletic Club fitness facility in Amarillo, TX. The Fitness Program Manager provides positive leadership in areas of customer service, personal training, fitness testing and prescription and group exercise while overseeing program implementation and partnering with the Wellness Program Manager. Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversees all personal training and group fitness.
- Manages staff, preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborates with the GM and Wellness Program Manager to develop and implement Cooper programs, events and activities.
- Provides leadership to personal trainers and develops strategic plan for facility’s annual personal training objectives.
- Offers guidance to Group Exercise Lead assisting with schedule development, class evaluations and member communications.
- Delivers leadership to Fitness Specialists assisting with the new member facility orientations and fitness assessments.
- Assists with member communications regarding schedule changes and program offerings.
- Performs daily inspections of fitness areas and equipment reporting any deficiencies to the General Manager.
- Circulates fitness floor and assists members in safe exercise.
- Instructs small group and group fitness classes.
- Conducts personal fitness assessments and prescribes personal fitness plans.
- Maintains a positive attitude and adheres to the Cooper purpose and core values.
- Performs duties with consistent, regular, and reliable attendance.
- Complies with all Cooper and Client policies.
- Accomplishes other duties as assigned.

- Must be able to lift up to and move up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally lift and /or move up to 100 pounds.
- Frequent standing, stooping, bending, pulling and pushing.
- Ability to stretch, twist, or reach out.
Education and / or Experience
- Bachelor’s degree from 4-year college or university; or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination education and experience.
- 2 years’ experience in either corporate or commercial fitness facility management.
- Experience providing personal training, small group training and group exercise class instruction.
- Professional fitness certification (ACSM, ACE, Cooper, NASM or similar).
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
