The Department of Health and Exercise Science invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Health Promotion and Wellness Management starting September 1, 2016. The successful candidate will teach courses in Health Promotion and Wellness Management, as well as coordinate the senior internship program. Evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level is desired.
Candidates are expected to have a strong record of research and be able to successfully compete for external funding. Candidates should demonstrate an ability to work collaboratively with colleagues in the Department and with those in our medical schools and nursing program. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to build an independent research program with the capacity to contribute to one or more of the current research initiatives at the University, such as the NJ Institute for Successful Aging, the CARES (Child Abuse) Institute, the Health and Behavior Integrative Treatments Research Unit (HABIT), and/or the Get FIT program for people with developmental disabilities.
A Ph.D. from an accredited institution of higher education in Health Promotion, Wellness, or a related field is required. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

The Department of Health and Exercise Science provides a rigorous and enlightening intellectual environment for the professional development, achievement and distinction of leaders in Health and Physical Education, Athletic Training, Nutrition, and Health Promotion and Wellness Management. In Fall 2016, the Department will begin two new academic program offerings, a B.S. in Community Health Advocacy and Education and a B.S. in Human Performance in Clinical Settings. Several current programs, including Health Promotion and Wellness Management, are nationally accredited. In addition to offering bachelor’s degrees in each of these areas, the Department also offers master’s degrees in Wellness and Lifestyle Management, Nutrition and Dietetics, Athletic Training (beginning Fall 2016), and Health and Physical Education (beginning Fall 2016).
