General Manager

JOB TYPE: Full-time, Monday – Friday with occasional weekends
The General Manager (GM) is responsible for managing onsite facility operations and programs according to Cooper\’s vision, values, and strategic objectives at the Downtown Athletic Club fitness facility in Amarillo, TX. The GM provides positive leadership in areas of customer service and staff management while building and maintaining a strong client relationship and overseeing the operations and financial management of the facility. Supervisory Responsibilities
- Oversees all general onsite facility operations and financial accountability.
- Develops and implements growth strategies.
- Manages staff, preparing work schedules and assigning specific duties.
- Creates and manages budget and optimizes expenses.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs daily walk through to confirm all areas of responsibility are clean and organized; if deficient, takes necessary action to improve.
- Assists Cooper corporate account team in review of periodic facility performance metrics, providing key insights into trends and /or suggestions for improvements.
- Collaborates with Cooper corporate account team in strategic planning of the facility with respect to staffing, programming, systems, facilities, equipment, and other related areas.
- Focuses on staff training and skill development.
- Leads in the planning, management, implementation, and evaluation of Cooper specific programs.
- Provides exceptional customer service with a positive attitude and ensure Cooper customer service standards and expectations are met.
- Ensures budget adherence and assists as needed in profit and loss review.
- Partners with Cooper and client marketing department to manage facility and program communication content, standards, and timelines.
- Leverages Cooper educational content in program design, facility promotions, and other approved campaigns.
- Guarantees Key Performance Indicators (KPI\’s) are measured and graded and facility is meeting or exceeding program and budgetary goals.
- Maintains a positive attitude and adheres to the Cooper purpose and core values.
- Develops and maintains strong relationship with client liaisons and facility vendors to continually promote Cooper values.
- Assumes responsibility and takes appropriate action in the event of an emergency (e.g. medical incident, fire alarm, etc.) in facility or on grounds.
- Works with Cooper and client technology to manage facility technology systems.
- Complies with all Cooper and Client policies.
- Accomplishes other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Outstanding organizational and leadership skills.
- Experience in planning and budgeting.
- Strong analytical ability and work ethic.
- Possess problem-solving skills, be self-motivated and strive for professionalism.
- Sound organizational, time management and attention to detail skills.
- Must be able to lift up to and move up to 25 pounds.
- Occasionally lift and /or move up to 100 pounds.
Education and / or Experience
- Bachelor\’s degree from 4-year college or university; or 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination education and experience.
- Comfortability in public speaking.
- At least three years of experience in either corporate or commercial fitness facility management.
- Professional fitness certification (ACSM, ACE, Cooper, NASM, or similar).
- CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.
