POSITION SUMMARY

Enhance the value proposition of the MMA MI Health & Benefits practice by understanding and applying leading-edge thinking around employee health and wellbeing strategy. Utilize consulting and process improvement methodology to advance health and wellbeing integration within MMA Michigan client organizations. Provide a range of consultation services to MMA MI operational teams and clients on the development and implementation of key strategies for creating health-supportive cultures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Support the success of MMA MI operating teams by serving as internal consultant and subject matter expert on industry best practices, processes and strategies to support employee health and wellbeing.
  2. Build competence of MMA Health & Benefits staff on health and wellbeing strategies, best practices, vendor capabilities and other topics, as appropriate through tool and template development, training and coaching.
  3. Support continuous development and enhancement of the MMA MI Total Health & Wellbeing (THW) approach and process.
  4. Support development of tools, templates and resources to understand needs; assess current state; and, support implementation and evaluation of successful health and wellbeing strategies including selection of appropriate vendors and partners.
  5. Conduct research and apply technical background to develop written communication in the form of talking points, best practice tip sheets, tools, etc. to support account team and client application of TWH process.
  6. Provide the MMA MI Business Development team the tools and/or resources in order to speak to the need for health-supportive cultures and strategic benefits of building an engaged workforce. Act as an advisor/consultant for Account Directors on sales calls with clients. Participate in prospect and client calls as required. Participate in team selling and client presentations as needed.
  7. In collaboration with assigned operating teams provide consultation to select (i.e. high revenue, large) clients and prospects on industry best practices, available local and national wellness platforms, products and providers. Provide support as needed to clients for retention purposes.
  8. Facilitate relationship building and support RFP process between MMA MI operating teams and vendors (HRA Provider, contract dieticians, etc.) to support mutual success.
  9. Maintain familiarity with carrier, community and vendor services, resources and products.
  10. Apply knowledge of behavior science, writing and marketing concepts to support ongoing integration of health and wellbeing messaging into communications provided to clients by Health & Benefits team.
  11. Manage & grow client value-add (free) resources/tools, including (but not limited to) health fair resources, wellness newsletters, stall talks, wellness resource books/guides.
  12. Special projects as assigned by Director, Total Health & Wellbeing.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Bachelor’s degree in Health Promotion, Organizational Development or other related field required.
  • Five-seven years health and wellbeing experience consulting on the design, delivery, and evaluation of population health programs in workplace settings.
  • Effective public speaking skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of human resources, benefits, organizational development and general business practices desired.
  • Must be detailed with excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and high sense of urgency.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication.
  • Prior success and experience operating in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to effectively build and maintain positive working relationships with clients, management and peers.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer-service related skills.
  • Proficiency in MS office applications required.
  • CHES or other health promotion-related designation preferred.
