Wellness and Fitness Coordinator

  • Administrative and skilled work developing, coordinating and implementing Seminole County’s wellness, health, and fitness programs.   Provides fun and accessible health improvement opportunities/programs that engage, educate, and empower the employees of Seminole County to lead healthy and active lifestyles that support overall well-being.  Promotes a culture of wellness through innovative programs and services with the ultimate goal of reducing health and safety risks and addressing identified needs.
  • Implements a variety of innovative and creative health and wellness programs that meet the needs of a diverse, dispersed workforce that may include, but are not limited to nutrition, diet, exercise and stress management.
  • Promotes and markets Seminole County’s wellness, health and fitness initiatives to support overall well-being of employees and their families. Facilitates changes and/or additions to programs as needed that reflect the changing needs of the employees.
  • Develops, implements, and manages fitness/wellness programs and events, as well as internal and external physical activity challenges. Manages multiple projects simultaneously and consistently provides a quality product with each program.
  • Coordinates wellness support groups, in-house and outside guest speakers/professionals to support and advise employees on proper kinds and amounts of exercise, diet, nutrition, and healthy styles of living.
  • Coaches employees to reduce health risk factors.
  • Conducts, teaches, and actively participates in scheduled activities, including group and individualized exercise classes.
  • Plans, coordinates, and oversees annual wellness program related to annual physicals, biometric screenings and tobacco non-use initiatives (including assistance identifying suitable tobacco cessation programs).
  • Creates internal communications and program visibility by developing and executing cutting edge internal and external health and wellness communications strategy using all available media such as online, print, email, and onsite training communications.
  • Prepares reports regarding employee participation and cost savings for return on investment analysis.
  • Prepares and executes annual needs and interest survey for County employees. Prepare an action plan based upon the results of the survey.
  • Visits work sites throughout the County to increase awareness and participation in Wellness programs and activities.
  • Adheres to all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) requirements dealing with confidential health and fitness information.
  • Performs basic administrative duties including written reports, memorandums, letters, and electronic correspondence.
  • Ensures that the Wellness Program structural design and all associated provisions are compliant with existing and updated laws, including but not limited to the Affordable Care Act, American Disability Act (ADA), Genetic Information Nondiscrimination Act (GINA) and all Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) Regulations.
