Wellness Coordinator

Job Summary: Maryville College seeks an energetic, innovative, student-centered leader for the position of Wellness Coordinator. The successful candidate will bring vision and passion to a campus committed to being Fit.Green.Happy ® and help lead the opening of the renovated Alumni Gym into a student driven, forward thinking wellness facility.
The Wellness Coordinator provides multi-faceted leadership for comprehensive and evidence-based wellness promotion programs, including but not limited to intramurals, recreation opportunities, and collaborative efforts across campus. The Coordinator will oversee the development of assessment efforts related to wellness programming within Student Affairs. Additionally, the Coordinator will publicize and market wellness programming. The Coordinator will hire, train, and supervise student-workers for Intramural programming, and fitness activities within Alumni Gym.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Coordinate the Maryville College intramural program.
· Organize recreation opportunities within “Alumni Gym”, including oversight of the Wellness Facilities including facilities management and daily oversight.
· Collaborate with faculty and staff regarding wellness opportunities outside of the classroom.
· Chair the Maryville College Wellness Committee.
· Support wellness-themed activities associated with residence life.
· Assist staff within Student Affairs to provide health-related educational, culturally sensitive programming for students across campus, including but not limited to: alcohol and other drug abuse prevention; mental health; Fit.Green.Happy®; and, topics as identified within Health Services, Counseling Services, Student Conduct, and Residence Life.
· Markets, publicizes, and assesses Student Affairs wellness-programming.
· Generate thorough reports on Wellness Facility operations, accident/injury reporting, incident reporting, and supervisory logs.
· Administer regular facility safety audits.
· Work evening and weekend hours as needed.
· Partner with Student Affairs staff members to support Summer Orientation Advising & Registration (SOAR), transfer activities, and Great Beginnings.
· Perform other duties as assigned and as needed.
· Respect and maintain professional protocols.
Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Health Education, Public Health or related field required; Master’s degree preferred. Two years of demonstrated experience with each of the following:
Supervision of staff, budget management, and programing planning.
Demonstrated experience with public speaking.Demonstrated experience with risk management. Ability to work some nights, evenings, and weekends. Preferred experience with Social Media.
CPR/First Aid/AED certifications. One or more certifications from an accredited organization, such as: American Council on Exercise (ACE), Aerobics and Fitness Association of America (AFAA), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) or National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA).
