• Life Insurance: The coverage amount is based on two and one-half times appointment salary rounded up to the next whole thousand with a maximum coverage of $100,000 and includes the same amount of Accidental Death and Dismemberment benefits. The University currently pays the entire cost of coverage.
• Medical, Dental and Prescription Drug Coverage: The cost of coverage is shared between employees and the University. Rates are determined by participation in Wellness Program and use of tobacco products. Coverage is available on the first of the month following appointment date.
• TIAA Retirement Contributions: Contributions begin based upon the first day of employment at a contribution rate of ten (10) percent of base appointment salary paid in full by ISU. The contributions are vested immediately. There are 40 investment options from which to choose.
• TIAA Auto Enroll: New employees are automatically enrolled in a tax deferred retirement program at hire: three (3) percent is deducted before taxes for the program to facilitate retirement planning. Employees may opt out of the program within 90 days.
• Fee Waiver Program: For the employee, spouse and dependent children: Staff may enroll in up to 18 hours of course work each academic year at a reduced rate. • Sick Leave: Accrued at a rate of 12 days per fiscal year with unlimited accumulation.
• Vacation: Pay level 11 and below accrues up to 15 vacation days earned per year 1 through 4; 20 vacation days per year thereafter. Pay level 12 and above accrues 20 vacation days per year
• Long Term Disability Coverage: Employees are eligible after three (3) years of continuous, regular employment with the University. This policy guarantees approved disabled employees a 66 2/3 percent income protection (from all sources) after 180 days of continuous total disability. Immediate participation is available for current members of a comparable group disability insurance program within 90 days prior to ISU employment and that would have provided income protection upon disability for at least five years.

Job Summary/Basic Function
The Wellness Coordinator will oversee all aspects of the fitness and wellness programs to include nutrition coaching, customized fitness, and mental health programming, personal/small group training, fitness assessment, non-credit instructional programs, special events, incentive programs, group exercise instruction and specialty fitness classes, while assisting with other operational needs of the Human Resources Office.
Specific Responsibilities
Required Relevant Education & Experience
Required Education: Must have Bachelor’s Degree (4 years) at time of hire.
Required Experience: Two or more years of experience overseeing fitness and wellness programming in a college or university setting. Experience and willingness to teach a wide variety of group exercise classes, small group training programs, and work with clients with a variety of needs and abilities. Ability to work flexible hours. Will consider student assistants or graduate assistants who have worked in a college or university setting.
Required Field(s) of Study
Recreation, physical education, exercise science, health promotions, nutrition, sports management, kinesiology or related field.
Preferred Relevant Education and Experience
Preferred Education: Master’s Degree in recreation, physical education, sports management, kinesiology or related field.
Preferred Experience: Experience developing and delivering presentations to groups. Knowledge in assessment methods and activities.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Has authority or responsibility for the supervision of student workers or graduate assistants only.

Ability to maintain confidential documents and information. Knowledge of HIPAA rules and regulations surrounding outcomes-based wellness programs. Ability and willingness to work mornings, evenings and weekends.
Job Duties
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Plan, develop, promote and deliver a comprehensive wellness program to include fitness consultations/assessments, educational seminars, wellness events, incentive programs, group exercise initiatives, personal/small group training programs, instructional programs and specialized activities. Manages interventions, programming, campaigns, competitions and challenges that educate and engage the organization’s employees in healthy behaviors and measurable change in outcomes. Develop, coordinate, manage, and maintain total wellness programming to reduce health risk, medical costs and encourage healthy lifestyles.

- Provide education and outreach programs, including training and leadership opportunities. Delivers monthly required wellness lunch and learns to staff and coordinates outside sources for these education session as needed. Coordinate the planning and implementation of wellness programs including health awareness educational campaigns, behavior change programs, health assessments/screenings, smoking cessation, and more.
- Directs and manages all activity associated with annual on-site screenings (to include scheduling, promotion and execution of individual screening events either individually or with designees). Manage the voluntary health risk assessment program for University employees, early retirees and spouses.
- Coordinates and provides education materials to the campus community in conjunction with programs.
- Coordinate the planning and implementation of wellness programs including health awareness educational campaigns, behavior change programs, health assessments/screenings, smoking cessation, and more.
- Chair and coordinate activities of the wellness committee.
- Develop and implement customer satisfaction surveys and make recommendations for continual improvement.
- Markets and promotes the use of the Recreation Center to benefit eligible staff through the creation of marketing publications.
- Recruit, hire, train, supervise, evaluate, and guide student workers and guide fitness instructors for non-credit/co-curricular drop-in courses, programs, and events.
- Evaluate, track and compile statistical information for wellness program areas including daily, weekly and monthly measures.
- Provide inclusive and alternative fitness programming for diverse ability levels and develop, plan, administer and evaluate special population programming.
- Research industry trends and assess new and current programming. Establishes metrics to ensure proper program evaluation and to measure the effectiveness of wellness initiatives. Keep up-to-date on current national wellness and wellness initiatives and activities, developing a network of resources and contacts.
- Analyze data collected from health risk assessments, bio-metric screenings, and claims data.
- Compile an annual comprehensive report that outlines the financial impact of the wellness program.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
