Wellness and Ergonomics Coordinator

Major Reponsibilities
- Analyze and recommend design changes to existing and/or new equipment, work stations, and work processes in all departments throughout the plant.
- Identify and record ergonomic risk factors through root cause analysis and develop action plans for improving identified areas.
- Record and study injury data, employee complaints and job hazard recognition to implement effective countermeasures for improving ergonomic work practices.
- Interface between plant supervision, engineering and employees in developing ergonomically correct work cell design.
- Create reports that illustrate reductions in worker injuries, health and other safety related costs.
- Assist in coordinating modified work assignments for injured workers.
- Assist in other departmental health and safety initiatives as required.
- Serve on the LexaMar Ergonomics Committee and participate in monthly ergonomics committee meetings.
- Coordinate the management of Magna Ergonomics reporting requirements.
- Lead wellness activities at Lexamar through: education programs designed to promote and encourage employee wellness, including health fairs etc; training team leaders and management in recognizing opportunities for improving the general wellness of employees, disease prevention and injury prevention; development of effective exercise programs; Coordination of guest speakers/organizations on an on-going basis to promote different wellness activities/programs in the northern Michigan area; Lead monthly Wellness Committee Meetings and create a high degree of involvement from committee members; Coordinate health incentive programs and employee health assessment programs; Assist with work-related injury care, on-site physicals and rehabilitation programs
Related Work Experience
- Previous experience in injury prevention in a manufacturing environment as well as a demonstrated understanding of basic ergonomic principles.
- Demonstrated analytical and problem solving skills.
- Demonstrated oral and written communication skills as well as strong organizational skills
Educational Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Ergonomics or Exercise Science
Physical Requirements
- This position requires a person to have the ability to perform work while sitting, standing, or walking a minimum of eight (8) hours a day.
