Wellness Manager

Multnomah County is seeking a Wellness Manager to help support our employees to feel good and be well.
As the Wellness Manager you will:
- Build on Current Strategic Plan for wellness at the County.
- Interface with various departments, collaborate with stakeholders to address needs around the County.
- Coordinate the Families Matter semi-annual education program for employees having children.
- Capitalize on available wellness services from our health vendors, applying wellness credits and managing budget prudently.
- Plan regular campaigns tailored to improve the health and well-being of a diverse workforce.
- Work closely with the Benefits and Wellness Manager to assist in the integration of wellness into the County’s Benefit strategy.
- Oversee and develop wellness staff, evaluate effectiveness of current programs
- Adjust programs as needed to meet the needs of our population.
- Use your excellent communications skills to craft messages that will educate and inform employees in live meetings, via web and articles.
- Manage Wellness web presence on County sites.

Minimum Qualifications/ Transferable Skills:*
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, preferably in health education, health sciences, public health, nursing, human resources management, physical education, diet and nutrition, or a closely related field.
- Three (3) to five (5) years of professional work experience in Wellness or Health Education, to include two (2) years are functioning as the primary lead or co-leader of a major Wellness or health initiative/improvement project or study.
- Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws/regulations governing wellness programs.
- Working knowledge of standard business practices, protocols, HIPAA standards and records retention.
- Working knowledge of best and promising practices for successful worksite wellness programs.
- Ability to write, organize and convey often difficult or sensitive issues in comprehensive but easily understood written reports.
- Ability to work independently using sound judgment and discretion.
- Effective facilitation and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated project organizational skills, methodology, principles, and practices and the ability to execute programs, lead studies and projects.
- Skilled in effectively interviewing and facilitating effective discussions with a variety of people of varying backgrounds, disciplines and cultures.
- Working knowledge of governmental organizational structures and interrelationships within the County, region and state.
Preferred Qualifications/Transferable Skills: You do not need to have the following preferred qualifications/transferable skills to qualify. However, keep in mind we may consider some or all of the following when identifying the most qualified candidates. - Familiarity with Employee Benefit plans and resources.
- Master’s degree in Public Health or Health Promotion, Nursing, or a health related field.
- Working knowledge of SAP/Workday or HRIS systems is desirable.
