Job Description: Wellness/Population Health Intern (Part-time up to 24 hours weekly)

Our Wellness/Population Health Intern helps to build, plan for, coordinate, and deliver health promotion activities designed specifically for our client’s company culture and member population. The position requires the ability to analyze data, create reports, communicate clearly and deliver messages to many different populations, be organized and thorough, and think creatively about new programming. Candidate must be available 25 hours per week/flexible hours.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
Wellness Coordinating
- Assists in health programming and coordinates and supports comprehensive population health programming to foster behavior change and maximize engagement, outcomes and customer satisfaction with Innovative’s wellness initiatives.
- Assists with developing client “Strategic Wellness Calendars” that schedule targeted activities and events for the upcoming year.
- Performs extensive research for monthly themed calendars, tip sheets and educational seminars using reliable evidenced based resources.
- Helps to schedule, organize and oversee, fitness or wellness health fairs and other established events, challenges or informational programs, to ensure their success.
- Demonstrates ability to learn web content management system, initial website setup, weekly updates and on-going processes related to Innovative’s wellness portal.
- Assists in the research and development of creating on-line wellness challenges for a variety of lifestyle related topics (walking, sleeping, hydration, meditation, digital detox).
- In conjunction with Innovative Marketing, helps to design communication and marketing materials to promote client health initiatives and wellness programs.
- Keeps abreast of current industry, market, and policy information.
- Recommends new programs or service offerings to promote wellness and fitness.
- Assists in documenting wellness department procedures.
- Other projects as assigned.
Skills & Competencies
- Currently in Junior year of undergraduate degree or in graduate school studying Exercise Science, Nutrition, Public Health, Population Health, Nursing or other similar health-related field of study.
- Possesses a strong desire to learn Corporate Wellness Program principles and strategies.
- Understanding of health education and behavior change theories.
- Awareness of trends and best practices in employee health and well-being.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Basic understanding of the legal and regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, GINA and ADA.
- Has a sense of urgency and ownership.
- Is a self-starter.
- Knowledge of specific and lifestyle-related topics such as smoking cessation, weight management, nutrition, stress reduction, physical activity and chronic conditions.
- Is proficient with the following programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- Is organized and can multi-task.
- Is flexible with working hours and when necessary, works any hours necessary to meet a deadline.
