Summary

Work in collaboration with provider to provide patients with care, education and support. Serve as Wellness Advocate to promote healthy living, disease management and prevention through motivation, training and patient involved programs. Must have exceptional interpersonal skills and demonstrate compassion and commitment toward excellence in patient care.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Perform physical examinations of patients, assessment and treatment of injuries or illnesses, including women’s health
  • Order and interpret standard tests that will assist in diagnosing and treating patients
  • Provide leadership and guidance to ancillary staff
  • Obtain, compile and record patient medical data, including health history, progress notes and results of physical examination
  • Prescribe therapy or medication with physician approval
  • Participate in medical-decision making
  • Educate patients regarding their illness and treatment, including self-care, prevention and health maintenance
  • Document all assessments, actions, care and treatment responses, and communications in patient record in EMR
  • Assist the physician and medical staff with procedures and treatments
  • Promote wellness educational programs
  • Maintain patient confidence and ensure confidentiality of patient care information

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
  • Certification: Graduate of an accredited ARNP program approved by the Florida Board of Nursing, BLS for Healthcare Providers and ACLS within 3 months of hire
  • Experience: At least 2 years of experience, preferably in primary or urgent care setting
  • Licensure: Current and unrestricted State of Florida licensure
  • Preferred: Women’s Health experience

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Understand CPT and ICD9/ICD10 Codes
  • Ability to perform standard phlebotomy procedures and techniques
  • Proficient knowledge of computer systems including electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Ability to effectively communicate with staff and patients using excellent written and verbal skills
  • Friendly personality and ability to work well as a team member
