We are currently seeking an experienced Wellness professional for the key position of Director, Wellness to join our Geauga Family YMCA Team!

The Wellness Director is accountable for successfully developing and managing all program areas assigned to him/her, which include new program development, fiscal management, and effective supervision of program staff, direction and implementation of all program delivery, quality, promotion, and monitoring results against pre-stated performance goals.

  • Areas of Accountability: Group Exercise, Personal Training, Wellness Center Operations, fitness-related promotions, special events, and member engagement programs.

  • Public relations/Community engagement
  • Fund Development

Location: Geauga Family YMCA, Geauga County

Department: Wellness

Job Status: Full-time /Exempt (40+ hours per week)

Salary: $38,000 a year (increase to $42,432 in May)

Hours: 40+ hours per week

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred. Preferred majors: Exercise Physiology, Physical Education, Sports Management
  • In lieu of Bachelor’s degree:
    • Associate’s degree in related field and 2-3 years of related work experience
    • OR
    • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent certificate of competency and 4-6 years of related work experience.
  • (2) two years’ experience in programming.
  • (1) one year experience in staff supervision.
  • Experience in developing programs for wellness and fitness is preferred

Certification(s) and Requirements

  • Certification in CPR at the level of Basic Life Support or Professional Rescuer, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration and associated-determined safety training required within 90 days of hire.
  • Current certification from an NCCA-accredited organization in either Personal Training or Group Exercise.
