Professional and Continuing Education – Subject Matter Experts

MUIH is seeking to build its pool of part-time subject matter experts and adjunct faculty to develop and/or teach Professional and Continuing education offerings. The courses are offered in a fully online, hybrid or face-to-face format. Subject areas include, but are not limited to, nutrition, naturopathic medicine, health and wellness coaching, acupuncture & oriental medicine, health promotion, workplace wellness, health policy, health research, herbal medicine, yoga therapy, mental health & wellbeing, mindfulness, creative wellness, therapeutic arts, neuroscience, physical fitness, business, marketing and practice management and more. Openings become available on an as-needed basis.
Interested applicants are to submit a resume or CV, and letter of interest with 3 references. A PCE course proposal form or samples of work may be requested if selected for an interview.
Essential Functions
- Develop curriculum aligned to professional requirements and skillsets
- Present lectures for working professionals on a specific subject matter
- Develop assessments
- Assess student learning outcomes (as applicable)
- Mentor new faculty teaching the program (as applicable)
- Act as quality reviewers for the subject matter (as applicable)
- Prepare and present course materials according to MUIH PCE quality standards
- Collaborate with the PCE Program Director and instructional designers
- Consult on CEU applications and approvals (as applicable)
- With the community culture in mind, take part in various MUIH orientations and trainings (as applicable)
- Perform other duties as assigned
Education and Experience Qualifications
Required
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution (bachelors with commiserate experience may be considered)
- Minimum of two years’ professional experience in area of expertise
- Minimum of one years experience presenting in a professional setting
- Professional certification(s) or credentials in subject matter
- Desire to engage in activities that are needed for an expanding curriculum
- Superior interpersonal and communication skills (both written and oral)
- Aptitude for technology platforms
- Passion for lifelong learning
- Attention to detail and project timelines
Preferred
- Preference for those engaged in related professional associations related to subject matter
- Preference for those specializing in complementary & integrative health
- Preference for those who have minimum of two years’ course development and/or teaching experience at a post-secondary academic institution or for a professional organization
- Preference for those who have experience with online course design and instruction
- Desire to make a positive impact in the lives of integrative health and healthcare professionals
