Wellness Specialist

Apply your knowledge, skills, vision, and creativity to facilitate positive health and lifestyle changes with employees and retirees of the State of Vermont. As a Wellness Specialist, you will develop and implement health and wellness initiatives for a diverse population, including creation and facilitation of presentations, challenges, written and visual content, and customer support.
The ideal candidate will be adaptable and flexible to meet changing priorities and demands of requested services. Experience with hands-on management, development, and implementation of health educational services for both in-person and online is required. Must have excellent networking, communication, coaching, and organizational skills. Experience in using web-based, social media and conventional marketing platforms and tools is preferred. Certifications in fitness instruction or yoga highly desired.
Requests for telework each week will be considered; however, this position is regularly scheduled to work Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. within a standard office setting. There is occasional need to flex these hours to accommodate requested services at State worksites as well.

Environmental Factors
Incumbent must be able to communicate, interact and work with state employees from all positions and management levels, as well as personnel representing medical, community and private organizations. Normal office/classroom working conditions prevail. Some alternate hours may be required to accommodate off-shift employees. Some travel within state is expected for which an incumbent must have access to private means of transportation. At times of public health emergencies (floods, infectious disease outbreaks, etc.), incumbent may be called on to assist Vermont’s public health efforts.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or higher in health education or a related field AND two (2) years or more of work experience in health education or a closely related area.
Preferred Qualifications
Two (2) years or more of experience that includes hands on management, development and implementation of health educational services.
Marketing experience using online marketing software/tools, social media, and conventional marketing tools.
