Last week in Orlando, hundreds of health promotional professionals gathered for an incredible two days together. It’s hard to believe just last week we were sharing stories, cutting-edge research and new ways to connect those we serve with a sense of purpose for better health. A huge thank-you to all who attended. The energy and passion you brought was a true testament to the commitment you have to help improve the lives of others. I am humbled and grateful to work with such talented and amazing people.
Now comes the real work. I encourage you all to be bold in your efforts as we continue to evolve as a field. To allow people to be their best selves—to achieve true wellbeing—we must begin to see them as sources, not resources with a finite utility. When given the right conditions, individuals can flourish and bring good health to all—their families, the organizations they serve and the communities in which they live.
As we learned from Summit speakers last week, I hope you find time to dream bigger about employee wellness and are courageous in finding new ways to help people. Lastly—don’t forget to take care of yourself; carve out a little time to connect with nature, savor and nourish a special meal, or be a lighthouse to someone who needs your guidance.
Keep the momentum going! I look forward to seeing you all in Omaha, August 28-30, 2017.
Wishing you all well!
